The Plymouth Karate Club, covering Pomphlett and Plymstock, is a proud member of the British Wadokai Honbu. Established in 2002, the club is part of the Plymouth Schools of Wadoryu Karate, which is a not-for-profit group dedicated to teaching original and traditional Wadoryu Karate. The Karate club operates in various locations, including Pomphlett, Plymstock, Oreston, Billacombe, Morely Meadow, and surrounding areas.

Unlike other clubs that offer training in multiple styles, Plymouth Karate Club focuses solely on authentic Wadoryu Karate. This ensures that students receive a high-quality and consistent education in this specific style. All instructors at the club are trained and licenced in British Wadokai Wado-ka, guaranteeing that the training is pure, historically authentic, and traditional.

The club welcomes individuals of all ages, starting from 8 years old. Younger students may be considered if they have prior karate experience or are part of a participating family unit. The training sessions are open to everyone, regardless of gender.

The fees for training sessions are 6 per session, with a discounted rate of 5 per session for individuals in a participating family unit. The first taster session is offered for free to allow prospective students to experience the training before committing. Additionally, beginners can purchase a lightweight Karate-Gi (suit) starting from 25, which includes a choice of a free embroidered badge or Kanji script.

As part of the British Wadokai Honbu, the Plymouth Karate Club is affiliated with the International Wado Federation (IWF) and follows the guiding principles and ethos of the organisation.
