Plymouth Hockey Club, the oldest in Plymouth since 1984, warmly welcomes players of all abilities. As a registered charity with the prestigious Clubs First award, it's one of the top local clubs.
Rob White, the Club Chairman, invites everyone to explore the clubhouse and grounds. Whether it's enjoying a cup of tea, reading the paper, or joining your child on the pitch, you’ll find a relaxed atmosphere where all beverages are free; just make a cuppa for others in return.
Run by dedicated parents, the club creates a welcoming environment for players and families. Need help? Just ask – someone’s always happy to assist.
Coaching is key here. Coaches in distinctive black jackets run relaxed and enjoyable sessions. Players are encouraged to wear shin guards, and gum shields are at parents' discretion. Protective gloves are available online, and a black long-sleeve top under the playing shirt is recommended.
Regular meetings are held, with minutes available from the Annual General Meeting. Membership forms, league dates for the Devon and Plymouth leagues, and the club’s constitution and rules are accessible to all.
The highlight of the season is the prize giving and BBQ at BullPoint Astro on 23rd June 2024, with certificates for every player and special awards for Player’s Player, Most Improved, and Coaches Award.
Also, don’t miss the end-of-season party at Skirmish Paintball in Exeter on 27th April 2024, featuring Laser Quest and open to friends and family. Bring a picnic or buy food on site.
Plymouth Hockey Club follows England Hockey's Safeguarding policy. There are volunteering opportunities available for coaches or umpires, with all training provided and funded by the club.
