“Pilates With Julie” is a welcoming and friendly Pilates studio located in Orpington, New Zealand. The studio is owned and operated by Julie, a certified and experienced Pilates instructor who is passionate about helping her clients improve their posture, reduce stress, and build core strength.

At “Pilates With Julie,” matwork classes are offered in a supportive environment where clients are taught through demonstration, description, and gentle touch. The classes are non-competitive, allowing individuals to work at their own pace. The exercises are varied and tailored to each individual's abilities, ensuring that everyone is appropriately challenged while still working within their limits.

The studio provides all the necessary equipment for the classes, which includes mats, stretch bands, balls, and small hand weights. These additional elements add an extra level of challenge and variety to the workouts. Each class lasts for 60 minutes, providing a comprehensive and balanced workout for the body.

To ensure a consistent and progressive Pilates experience, the matwork classes are taught in 6-week courses that must be booked in advance. This system allows clients to see improvement and development in their Pilates technique over time.

When it comes to attire, participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows for free movement, such as jogging pants or leggings paired with a t-shirt.

Julie's journey into Pilates began when her cousin, who was suffering from chronic back pain, introduced her to the practise. Intrigued by the positive results he experienced, she decided to give Pilates a try due to her own issues with poor posture and tension in her neck and shoulders. It didn't take long for her to witness the benefits firsthand, which inspired her to pursue formal training as a matwork teacher. After completing extensive training with Body Control Pilates, she obtained her qualification in September 2012 and is now a proud member of the Body Control Pilates Association.

In addition to her matwork qualifications, Julie has expanded her expertise through further specialised training. She is also qualified in using the Pilates studio equipment, which enables her to offer personalised 1:1 and duet sessions tailored to individuals' needs and goals. These sessions take place in Julie's home studio, allowing for a comfortable and focused environment.

Continuing her commitment to learning and offering her clients the best possible experience, Julie discovered the MELT Method during the lockdown in 2021. The MELT Method is a self-care system that utilises soft foam rollers and small balls to restore joint stability, alleviate pain, and improve sensorimotor control. Julie is qualified in various levels of MELT, showcasing her dedication to incorporating complementary practises that benefit her clients' overall well-being.
