Phoenix SMA - Sarisbury Green (Freestyle TaeKwonDo & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) sits snugly in Southampton, UK. This martial arts club and fitness centre offers a cool mix of Freestyle TaeKwonDo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes for all ages and skill levels.
You can dive into Freestyle TaeKwonDo any day of the week, with classes spread across Hamble, Locks Heath, Sarisbury Green, and Bishop's Waltham. Mark's team follows a syllabus rooted in the Chang Hon Style but stays free from the usual TKD governing bodies. Kids from the age of three can jump into these classes, which cover forms, sparring, basic self-defence, and even board breaking.
On the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu front, Phoenix SMA proudly partners with Paraestra UK, one of the newest affiliations in the country, promoting an open-minded approach to training. These classes welcome anyone aged five and above, available in Hamble, Bishop's Waltham, and Sarisbury Green.
Since its kickoff in 2012, starting with just Freestyle TaeKwonDo in Hamble, Mark has seen Phoenix SMA grow in leaps and bounds. By 2017, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu joined the mix and quickly became a hit. Now, Phoenix SMA has over 300 members across four venues and four After School Clubs.
Mark loves that the club's open-minded approach helps it connect with various schools and organisations, like the Cobra Martial Arts Association, Basingstoke School of Martial Arts, and Reading Taekwondo Academy, just to name a few.
Every summer, Phoenix SMA hosts a lively Summer Camp. Plus, they run after-school clubs for those keen on learning Freestyle TaeKwonDo in a structured setting.
