



Welcome to Performance Academy of Theatre Arts, a performing arts school where pupils can grow, aspire, and achieve. Located in Rainham, Kent, Performance Academy of Theatre Arts is a fully qualified and registered school offering a wide range of training in Ballet, Tap, Contemporary Modern Jazz, Theatre Craft, Musical Theatre, Commercial, and Acro. Classes are available for students aged 3 years and above.
Established in July 2008 by Emma Lewis (Principal), the academy started with twenty pupils during its opening week. Since then, it has grown to accommodate approximately 100 pupils. Performance Academy of Theatre Arts takes great pride in its success and reputation within the local area. The school is committed to providing high-quality training while maintaining a friendly and fun environment for all students and their families.
The academy has had the privilege of seeing its pupils perform in various professional productions, including pantomimes at The Central Theatre in Chatham, The Woodville in Gravesend, Maidstone TV Studios, and The Hazlitt in Maidstone. Additionally, some students have had the opportunity to perform with The English Youth Ballet. Several students have also been accepted into Associate programmes, allowing them to progress in their training alongside their regular classes. The academy's competition team members have achieved notable success in regional festivals and have even been finalists in the All England Dance National competition.
Past pupils of Performance Academy of Theatre Arts have gained admission to reputable universities and colleges such as Bird College, Miskin Dance College, and Reynolds Performing Arts College, allowing them to further pursue their performing arts studies.
The faculty at Performance Academy of Theatre Arts is composed of highly qualified and experienced individuals who are dedicated to providing exceptional training to the students. Emma Lewis, the Principal, is a FIDTA Fellow and Examiner who founded the academy in 2008 after a brief professional career. Emma furthered her training under the guidance of Miss Yvonne Gout and qualified as an IDTA examiner. She teaches all dance disciplines as well as Musical Theatre.
Miss Jaime Baxter, who specialises in Street and Commercial dance, has been a valued member of the faculty since 2009. She holds teaching qualifications with the ISTD. Miss Jess Clifford, another beloved member of the faculty, has been with the academy since its inception and specialises in preparing students for their examinations.
