Jamie would like to extend a warm welcome to everyone in the sports community on behalf of Pentyrch Cricket Club. Situated in the charming village of Pentyrch, just 10 minutes from Cardiff, this family-focused club has a rich history dating back to 1883. Jamie's vision is to see the club recognised as a leading amateur cricket club in South Wales, providing excellent facilities and coaching for local talent.
The club is proud of its picturesque ground at Parc Y Dwrlyn Fields, which it shares with Pentyrch Rugby Club. Over the years, significant improvements have been made to meet league regulations, and the clubhouse has been extended to better serve its members. Notably, in 1993, the cricket square hosted a Sunday League game between Glamorgan and Northamptonshire, highlighting the club's achievements.
In the last two decades, Pentyrch Cricket Club has seen substantial growth under Jamie's stewardship, climbing the leagues and winning the championship in their first attempt in 2001. The club now boasts a robust juniors section with All Stars and Dynamos cricket, offering teams across all age groups.
The club currently fields a 1st XI in Division 2 of the South Wales Premier Cricket League and a 2nd XI in Division 4 of the South East Wales Cricket League. They also host Sunday Friendlies, including Sunday Smash T20s, along with mid-week friendlies. There is a dedicated section for Women and Girls, demonstrating their commitment to providing opportunities for female cricketers.
Training nights at Pentyrch cater to various age groups and skill levels. Junior hard ball training is on Wednesdays from 6 pm, with senior training from 5:30 pm, subject to mid-week fixtures. All Stars, Dynamos, and junior softball training take place on Fridays at 5:30 pm, alongside women's softball training.
Jamie encourages new players of all ages and abilities to join. Interested individuals are invited to email for more details. For those who prefer to be part of the club's social scene, social membership is available for an annual fee of £10, which includes a chance to enjoy Jane's famous cake. Inquiries can be made at the bar or by contacting John at moore0947@gmail.com.
