About

Penpont Fishing Camp is a picturesque retreat nestled on the banks of the River Usk in the heart of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park in Mid-Wales. Owned and operated by a local family, Penpont offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, inviting visitors to slow down and embrace a simpler way of living.

Accommodation at Penpont includes the charming Courtyard Wing, a 17th Century building perfect for groups and gatherings. With six bedrooms that can comfortably sleep up to 14 people, the Courtyard Wing features a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area that opens onto a rustic courtyard shaded by a magnificent Catalpa tree. Beyond the courtyard, guests can explore the upper terrace, sweeping lawns, wild meadows, the Greenman maze, and acres of picturesque grounds.

For those who prefer a more rustic experience, Penpont offers a riverside and rose garden campsite. This idyllic campground allows visitors to pitch their tents next to the river, choosing their own spot under the shade of trees. Amenities such as hot showers and toilets are conveniently located nearby, and outdoor fire pits are available for cosy gatherings in the evening. Situated near popular natural landmarks like Pen-y-fan, Mynnydd Illtyd, and Fan Frynych Nature Reserve, Penpont serves as an excellent base for exploring the beauty of the national park.

In addition to its accommodation options, Penpont provides beautiful spaces for weddings, retreats, and conferences. Surrounded by the stunning natural landscape, Penpont's Grade II listed Stables can accommodate up to 80 guests and is suitable for workshops, dances, and concerts. The venue also offers a range of breakout rooms and smaller gathering spaces. Guests can enjoy a variety of drinks, including locally brewed craft beers, at the in-house pub.

Penpont takes pride in its commitment to organic farming and sustainability. The estate's Walled Gardens have been growing organic vegetables for over 25 years, with the farm shop on-site supplying the local community with fresh produce, fruits, flowers, honey, preserves, and juices. Additionally, Penpont's regenerative farm, Cwmsefin, is working towards providing 100% pasture-fed beef and lamb.

Invested in nature conservation and education, Penpont launched the Penpont Project in collaboration with Action for Conservation in 2019. This innovative intergenerational nature recovery project combines regenerative farming, nature conservation, and continuous cover forestry to restore biodiversity and natural processes on the estate. The project also includes an educational programme for young people, aiming to connect them with nature and develop their understanding of sustainability.

Overall, Penpont Fishing Camp offers a unique and enchanting experience, weaving people and place together. Whether it is a peaceful fishing getaway, a joyful gathering with loved ones, or an opportunity to immerse oneself in nature and learn about sustainable practises, Penpont provides an unforgettable escape in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
