About

Pedal Power Cycling Club, one of London's cherished cycling organisations, extends a warm welcome to individuals of all ages with learning disabilities. Under the guidance of Alex, the organiser, Pedal Power focuses on breaking down barriers and promoting enjoyment in cycling. From novices to seasoned cyclists, everyone can find a supportive community to build confidence, improve fitness, and simply have fun.

Alex believes in the benefits of cycling for physical and mental well-being, independence, and social connection. At Pedal Power, a dedicated team, from session managers to volunteer instructors, ensures a safe and enjoyable environment for all members. Each team member plays a crucial role in providing support and encouragement throughout everyone’s cycling journey.

Specially adapted bikes, including side-by-sides and trikes, are offered to meet the needs of individuals with learning disabilities. These high-quality bikes are meticulously maintained to ensure safety and optimal performance for all riders.

Volunteering at Pedal Power is a fulfilling way to make a difference. Those passionate about cycling and willing to support others are invaluable to the club. Volunteers assist with sessions, provide instruction, and offer encouragement, making them an essential part of the community.

In 2022, Pedal Power saw remarkable attendance, with 1000 riders joining sessions at Finsbury Park on Tuesdays, 200 at the Emirates on Thursdays, and 500 at Finsbury Park on Saturdays. The club also welcomed 1000 carers and family members. Such numbers highlight the club's positive impact within the community.

The club celebrates its members' achievements. For instance, Sam and David were featured in the Islington Tribune for their inspiring cycling journey. Team Youth Music completed the arduous London to Brighton cycling event, exceeding their fundraising goals.

Pedal Power's accomplishments are made possible by its funders and donors, allowing the club to continue offering accessible cycling experiences.

Due to current Tier 2 lockdown rules, free drop-in sessions are paused. But members can pre-book sessions through the club's calendar page to continue cycling safely.

As a proud member of the cycling community, Pedal Power collaborates with organisations like Bikeworks and Bikefix. The club is always exploring new routes and opportunities to enhance members' experiences.

For more information or to get involved, visit Pedal Power's website. You'll find comprehensive details including its history, events, and latest updates.

Pedal Power remains committed to promoting inclusivity and fun through cycling. With Alex and the dedicated team, the club continues to empower individuals with learning disabilities and contribute positively to the community.
