The area in which the club is situated has a rich history, being home to the Burramattagal clan of the Darug first nations peoples over 60,000 years ago. The name “Burramattagal” is believed to mean “the place where eels lie down to breed. ” Parramatta itself is significant as the second European settlement in Australia, initially named Rose Hill by Governor Phillip in 1788 before being renamed Parramatta in 1791.
