Located in Rivire-du-Loup, the Parc linaire interprovincial Petit-Tmis is a cycling park that spans 134 kilometers, connecting the provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick. The gravel-packed trail is exclusively reserved for cyclists and pedestrians, following the path of a former railway line. With slopes never exceeding 4%, the trail is accessible to all levels of riders. Along the route, there are rest stops where you can park your car, rest, and learn about the various services and attractions in the municipalities along the way.
The northern part of the Petit-Tmis interprovincial trail takes you through fields, equestrian pastures, peaceful forests, marshes, and lakes. It serves as a refuge from the hustle and bustle of city life and crowded tourist destinations. Nature lovers and families can explore this serene environment, a hidden gem in Rivire-du-Loup.
During the summer season, the park is dedicated to cyclists and hikers, with access to services and patrol staff from June 24th (Quebec's National Holiday) to September 5th. From September 6th to late October, the park remains accessible but without services. In the winter, the park is exclusively used for snowmobiling. Permits are strictly prohibited.
Visitors can take a break at Caf Denis-Longchamps in Saint-Modeste, located 15 km from Rivire-du-Loup. The caf offers light meals, healthy breakfast options, beverages, and frozen treats for a refreshing pit stop on your Petit-Tmis journey. For camping enthusiasts, there are wild camping sites along the trail, such as Camping de la rivire des Roches, Camping du ruisseau Beaulieu, and Camping de l'Observatoire, each offering a unique experience in nature.
