Pan-disability Cricket Taster Session

About

Durham Cricket is excited to announce a Pan-disability cricket taster day happening on Saturday, December 9, 2024, at Seat Unique Riverside. The event will take place at the club’s indoor school and is welcoming cricketers with a range of impairments and health conditions. This is a fantastic chance for people to come together and have a great time playing cricket, regardless of any limitations they may have.

To register for the event, interested individuals can reach out to Durham Cricket’s SEND Cricket Development Officer, Daryl Smith, by emailing [email protected]. The visually impaired cricket event aims to bring people together and showcase just how inclusive this sport can be. With adaptations such as the sound-emitting ball, cricket becomes a game that breaks barriers and creates a strong sense of community that truly enriches lives.

Originally established in the 1940s as a form of recreation for injured servicemen after World War II, visually impaired cricket has grown into a national sport played by numerous clubs across the UK. Durham VI Cricket Club, previously known as the North East Eagles, is open to players of all sight classifications for training sessions held at the Hermitage Academy in Chester-le-Street during the winter months. Keep an eye out for upcoming summer training locations to ensure year-round opportunities to be a part of this wonderful and inclusive sport.
