David, the organizer, wanted to share some details about Oxley Beach Golf Course with the sports community:
Situated in Harrow, Ontario, Oxley Beach Golf Course, established in 1963, is proudly known as "Canada's Southernmost Golf Course." This public 18 Hole Par 3 course was designed by Byron Hatfield and offers a unique golfing experience just half an hour southeast of Windsor. Spanning 2380 yards, the course features 16 sand traps, a small natural pond, shorter tee boxes on 4 holes, and a practice green for putting.
The terrain is fairly level, gently sloping towards the lake and marsh, providing a challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The fairways and greens are well-maintained, and the sandy soil ensures excellent drainage. One standout hole is the 13th, which has a small pond in front of the tee box, a marsh running along the left, and a picturesque willow tree off to the right of the fairway.
Beyond golfing, the course offers a peaceful setting with large shade trees and cool offshore breezes. Wildlife sightings are common, including deer, foxes, eagles, bullfrogs, and snapping turtles. Visitors can also explore the surrounding area along County Rd. 50, which features estate wineries, fresh produce markets, public beaches, restaurants, B&Bs, Colchester Village & harbour, camping grounds, and historic parks.
For those interested in booking a round, Oxley Beach Golf Course offers reasonable rates for both weekdays and weekends, with pull cart rentals and club rentals available. As a walking course, golfers can enjoy a leisurely round in a tranquil environment. For inquiries or to book a tee time, contact the course directly at (519) 738-2672.
