Oxford Club Bowls

Oxford Club Bowls is a well-established sports club located in Oxford, New Zealand. With a rich history spanning 100 years, the club is deeply rooted in the local community. Nestled at the base of the Oxford foothills in the heart of the Waimakariri District, the club offers a picturesque setting for sports enthusiasts.

The club is housed within the Oxford WMC & MSA complex, which boasts a wide range of amenities. The highlight of the club is its high quality full-size maniototo grass green, which provides the perfect surface for lawn bowls. Members can enjoy a large car park, as well as full kitchen and dining facilities, making it a convenient and comfortable space for gatherings.

Adjacent to the bowling facilities, the Oxford Club Complex offers additional convenience and entertainment options. Members can unwind at the full bar or enjoy bar snacks, delicious bistro dining, or even takeaway service. Big screen TVs ensure that sports fans never miss a game, and live entertainment adds to the vibrant atmosphere. For those looking for a bit of excitement, there is a separate gaming room.

Additionally, the complex includes a library, a bottle store, and a courtesy van for the convenience of its members.

Oxford Club Bowls welcomes new members and casual bowlers of all ages and abilities. The club is open every Tuesday from 5. 00pm, every Thursday from 1pm onwards, and some Saturdays (depending on the time of year and Interclub schedule) from September to March. The emphasis at Oxford Club Bowls is on fun and inclusivity, providing a welcoming environment for everyone to try their hand at lawn bowls.

The club takes pride in its diverse membership, which includes school children, teenagers, middle-aged individuals, retired individuals, and even physically disabled players who use wheelchairs to participate in the sport. Both men and women club members have achieved remarkable success, winning titles at various levels, including Youth, Junior, and Senior categories. Additionally, two wheelchair bowlers represent Canterbury and New Zealand Disabled Bowls.
