Join the Outdoor beginners course at The Bowmen of Darenteford Archery Club and give archery a shot! This course is perfect for beginners who want to learn the ins and outs of archery. It consists of two 3½ hour weekly lessons, giving you plenty of time to perfect your target shooting skills using modern trainer bows.
Throughout the course, you will cover various topics including setting up, using and caring for the equipment, shooting different bow styles, scoring, etiquette, and most importantly, safety. And here's the cherry on top – upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate that enables you to apply for Club membership. How cool is that?
The course will take place at Northfleet School for Girls, Gate B, Hall Road, Northfleet, Kent, DA11 8AQ. It's conveniently located about half a mile east from the A2 Pepper Hill junction. Just remember that the courses are usually held on two consecutive Saturdays, from [time] to [time] (usually a little later), so make sure you can attend both sessions.
Now, let's talk numbers. The minimum age for participants is 8 years old, and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult with parental authority at all times. The price for the course is £60 per person, but if you're under 18 and your parent or guardian is also doing the course, you can enjoy a discounted rate of £50. Oh, and here's another perk – the course fee includes free equipment hire for the first month if you decide to join the Club. Sweet deal, right?
Don't worry about bringing your own archery equipment. The Club will provide everything you need, and all training will be given or supervised by Archery GB qualified coaches. Just remember to wear comfortable/casual clothes and footwear. We suggest avoiding baggy tops and open-toed shoes like sandals. Also, it might be handy to bring light garden-style gloves for lifting wooden target stands and bosses. Since the course will be held outside on grass, make sure to come prepared for the weather. Bring anoraks or sun cream, depending on what Mother Nature has in store for us that day. And of course, don't forget to pack a lunch and any refreshments you might need.
We understand that demand for our courses is always high, so there's often a waiting list. Places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis until the course is full. However, if a spot becomes available at short notice, we'll give those on the waiting list the opportunity to join in. To reserve your place or get added to the waiting list, please contact our Training Officer at [email protected]. Once a place is offered and accepted, you'll receive an application form. Don't forget to return the form along with your payment no later than 2 weeks before the course starts to confirm your booking.
