Our Breathing Space is Cammeray's boutique Pilates, Yoga, and Barre studio, providing a peaceful retreat to still the mind and strengthen the body. The studio offers intimate-sized classes and personalised programmes to cater to each individual's wellness journey. Whether you are new to Pilates or an advanced practitioner, recovering from an injury, or in the pre/postnatal stage, Our Breathing Space has a programme tailored to meet your specific needs.
The training style at Our Breathing Space is holistic, focusing on the well-being of both the body and the mind. The Pilates method, created by Joseph Pilates, promotes a harmonious connexion between muscles, joints, and the mind. Some benefits of practising Pilates include stress reduction, increased relaxation, improved flexibility and range of motion, enhanced bone density, injury prevention, core strength development, improved balance and posture, cardiovascular endurance, overall well-being, and enhanced mind-body awareness and proprioception.
The Pilates method of mindful movement is suitable for individuals of all fitness levels. Beginners can benefit from the gentle introduction to movement, while athletes and dancers can find unique challenges to push their boundaries. Pilates is also safe for those in the pre/postnatal stage and can be modified for the elderly and individuals with limitations.
For new clients, comfort is key, and wearing activewear that allows for freedom of movement and support is recommended. Grip socks are compulsory for hygiene and safety and can be purchased at the studio. It is advised to bring a water bottle and a small towel for personal use during the session. Bringing a phone to class is not recommended in order to fully focus on the mind-body connexion.
Bookings are required for all classes and can be made online through the Momence app. It is advisable to book in advance as popular time slots tend to fill up quickly. A waitlist is available for fully booked classes, and cancellations can be made up to 12 hours before the scheduled session. Pre-purchased packs can be put on hold if needed.
For expecting and new mothers, Our Breathing Space offers safe and modified exercises to support physical and mental well-being during pregnancy. Pilates is a controlled and gentle form of movement that can be practised throughout the pregnancy, with modifications as needed. The studio is committed to assisting mothers in regaining control of their bodies and finding moments of stillness in their minds.
