About
Andy Finch, your ever-enthusiastic organiser, has a special message for our sports community.
Wanderers Football Club, proudly known as originalwanderers, has a treasured spot in London's football heritage. Founded in 1859 by Charles and John Alcock, this club is not just old but golden, being one of the founding members of the Football Association in 1863.
The Alcock brothers, hailing from Sunderland, fell in love with football at Harrow School. They set up the 'Forest Club' in Epping Forest, kicking off with a memorable 1-0 win against Crystal Palace FC.
In 1863, John and AW Mackenzie, standing tall for Wanderers at a pivotal London meeting, helped birth the Football Association. But soon after, a sibling spat led Charles to rebrand the team as 'Wanderers Club'.
Under Andy's watchful eye, our club has a history dotted with FA Cup triumphs in the 1870s. Fast forward to 2009, Wanderers FC was reborn with a heart for charity, turning football into a force for good.
Now, in an exciting twist, Andy has orchestrated a partnership with London Youth Sports Trust (LYST). This means our Saturday matches have found a beautiful new home, bringing top-tier football to our dedicated players and fans.
On top of that, Andy's rolling out a sponsorship programme for local Dulwich businesses. It’s a fantastic chance for local enterprises to connect with our vibrant community.
Joining Wanderers FC means diving into a legacy of inspiring football and community spirit. Whether you're looking to lace up your boots or simply cheer from the sidelines, Andy invites you to embrace the magic of originalwanderers and savour the best of London football.
