Old McDonald's Family Farm, located in Lavigne, is a charming and educational farm that offers a unique experience for visitors of all ages. The farm is owned and operated by Lisa McDonald, who along with her husband, started the farm in 2020 with the vision of inspiring the next generation of farmers. The farm offers a range of activities and programs that aim to reconnect future generations to the land and teach them the importance of farming and sustainable agriculture.
One of the highlights of Old McDonald's Family Farm is the hands-on farming education it provides. Visitors can enjoy a one-hour private farm tour that allows them to explore everything the farm has to offer in a safe and fun way. From interacting with chickens, ducks, bunnies, and mini pigs to learning about the market garden and pollinators, visitors can immerse themselves in the farm experience like never before. Natural play areas and John Deere tractor swings add an extra element of fun for children and adults alike.
Old McDonald's Family Farm also offers a range of programs and events, including the popular Summer Camp. The Summer Camp gives children aged 5-8 the full farm experience, allowing them to spend time with animals, participate in wilderness activities, and enjoy free time on the farm. The camp is run by Lisa McDonald and R-C Serre, who brings her expertise in child care, wilderness activities, and foraging to enhance the camp experience. Focal Point Artistry, represented by Jessica, also joins the camp to bring a creative and indigenous teaching experience to the children.
Registration for the Summer Camp is now open, and interested participants can secure their spot with a non-refundable deposit. The camp fee includes all activities, materials, and a memorable experience on the farm. Participants are encouraged to bring their own nut-free lunch and snacks for the camp day.
