Welcome to Okehampton Golf Club, a charming Par 68 Parkland Course located in the heart of Devon. Situated on the northern edge of Devon's magnificent National Park, our course offers a scenic and picturesque setting. Currently, 17 holes are available, all on temporary greens, and trolleys are permitted, but no buggies are allowed today.
Founded in 1913, Okehampton Golf Club has a rich history spanning over a century. Throughout the years, members, friends, and guests have enjoyed playing golf on our course, and we take pride in our tradition of friendliness and hospitality. We are always delighted to welcome golfers from all around the country to experience our facilities.
Our parkland course is nestled in the heart of Devon, offering stunning views of the highest tors of Dartmoor. The course is sheltered by these magnificent landmarks, creating a unique and tranquil playing environment. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or a beginner, Okehampton Golf Club provides a challenging yet enjoyable experience for players of all levels.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all golfers, we have implemented safeguarding policies and procedures. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy golf in a safe environment, and we have welfare officers available to provide support and advice if needed.
Okehampton Golf Club also boasts a fascinating history. The course was initially opened in 1913 by Sydney Simmons, who drove from the 1st tee. The renowned 5-time open champion, JH Taylor, designed the course. It was originally a nine-hole course but was later extended to 18 holes in 1923.
Noteworthy events, such as Moore's Marathon in 1972, where a club member played 15 rounds and 6 holes in continuous play, are commemorated on the club's honours board.
When it comes to attire, we have specific dress codes in place. On the course, golf shoes are mandatory. Beach type shorts, tracksuits, shell suits, or collarless/sleeveless tee shirts are not permitted. Jeans are also not allowed, but tailored shorts are acceptable.
Shirts and tops must be tucked in. In the clubhouse, hats should be removed, and jeans and trainers are permitted. The dress code is smart casual.
In addition to golf, Okehampton Golf Club offers a catering service with delicious and creative food. Whether you're a club member or a member of the public, we offer a wide range of quality meals to satisfy your appetite.
