They offer two exclusive reef tours, “Ocean Free” and “Ocean Freedom”, which are highly customer-focused, small group, eco-accredited snorkel and SCUBA dive experiences.

Owned by Perry Jones and Taryn Agius, along with their dedicated team, the company is passionate about providing guests with an unforgettable day on the Great Barrier Reef. With only a 10-minute drive from Cairns airport, they are conveniently located for domestic and international travellers.

Perry Jones has been in the dive industry in Cairns since 1988, managing dive operations on four vessels. In 1992, Perry met Taryn, and together they worked on the boats before purchasing Ocean Free, a 16. 5m schooner, in 1996. The company quickly gained a reputation as a well-established and respected operator in the local area.

In 2005, Perry and Taryn acquired their second vessel, Ocean Freedom, a luxury 20m cruiser. After a year of refurbishment, the vessel was launched in mid-2006. In 2008, another million-dollar refurbishment took place, improving the vessel's speed, deck space, and overall comfort for guests.

With the operation of two vessels, the company re-branded to Cairns leading Reef & Island Tours to encompass both Ocean Free and Ocean Freedom. Their commitment to providing personalised, low-guest number tours with excellent customer service has made them a popular choice among travellers.

Both vessels underwent major refurbishments in 2014, ensuring they are always in top condition. They continue to undergo annual refits to maintain their high standards. Perry and Taryn's love for the sea and the reef is evident in their dedication to creating unforgettable experiences for their guests.

Ocean Free & Ocean Freedom adhere to all legislative and WPH&S requirements for snorkelling and diving. They are ATEC accredited for travel safety and comply with Industry State and Federal requirements. The company plans to operate daily from January 2023.
