Oakfield Archers is a well-established archery club located in the Ilford area of Essex, UK. With its convenient location inside the circle of the M25, the club offers easy access to Essex, Kent, and London. Founded in 1962, Oakfield Archers caters to archers of all ages and abilities, welcoming those who shoot with Recurve, Compound, and Longbow. Please note that the club does not accommodate crossbows.
During the Outdoor Season from April to September, the club shoots at its field located at The Willows (Banqueting and Events/Sports and Social Club) on Forest Road in HAINULT, Essex, IG6 3SL. There are no specific set times, allowing members to shoot all day. In fact, Oakfield Archers offers year-round shooting, even during the off-season.
For the Indoor Season from October to March, the club shoots in the Sports Hall at Beal High School on Woodford Bridge Road in Redbridge, ILFORD, Essex, IG4 5LP. Indoor shooting sessions take place on Tuesdays and Fridays between 1930 and 2200. However, the outdoor field is also available every day as detailed under the Outdoor Season.
Oakfield Archers prides itself on offering beginners courses throughout the year, allowing individuals to learn to shoot. The course consists of six lessons and is conducted by fully qualified instructors and coaches. During each lesson, participants are loaned training equipment. Once the course is successfully completed, participants have the opportunity to join the club, participate in club nights, county, regional, and national competitions, as well as social events held throughout the year.
As of May 2021, the costs for the beginners course are as follows: Adults pay 65, while Juniors (under 18) pay 55.
