Nunavik Volleyball, located in Beaupr, is a non-profit sports-based intervention program that aims to support the physical, mental, and social wellbeing of Nunavik's youth. Through a variety of activities ranging from community volleyball camps and tournaments to high performance training and competition, Nunavik Volleyball serves as a bridge to reach youth in the region.
The program focuses on creating a safe and inclusive environment that builds trusting relationships and provides opportunities for growth, ultimately enhancing overall wellbeing. With a goal of using sport as a psychosocial intervention platform to strengthen support for Inuit youth mental health, Nunavik Volleyball strives to develop a consistent, quality, and fun sport program that empowers youth to reach their goals in sport and life.
In addition to advocating for the access and inclusion of Inuit athletes in sports teams, programs, and events at regional, provincial, and national levels, Nunavik Volleyball offers a range of programs including community initiatives, high performance training, and mental health support. Community programs are designed to provide Nunavimmiut of all ages with opportunities to engage in the sport they love, while high performance programs aim to fill the gap in HP sports programming in Nunavik and help athletes reach their full potential.
Through a focus on athlete development and dedication to providing resources for success, Nunavik Volleyball has seen athletes break through onto college and provincial teams, showcasing the impact of the program on individual commitment and achievement.
