Nestled in the heart of suburban Mumbai in Santacruz, Nrityangan Academy of Fine Arts stands as a haven for enthusiasts of Bharatanatyam. Founded in 1992 by Anjana Dongre, the academy is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of India through the classical art of Bharatanatyam. Named "Nritya Ka Aangan," meaning "An arena of dance," Nrityangan offers a nurturing environment where students not only learn the intricate Kalakshetra and Tanjavur styles but also develop qualities of focus, self-discipline, and internal strength.
Anjana Dongre, the esteemed founder, is a celebrated exponent of Bharatanatyam with rigorous training under Shreemati Gayatri Vekantraman and Guru UmaDevi Dutt. Her journey continues with further guidance from Shri Pandit Venugopal Pillai and Smt Jayshree Pillai. Enriching her expertise with a Masters's Degree in Fine Arts from Kalidasa University, Nagpur, and participation in workshops led by stalwarts like Shri C. V. Chandrashekhar and Smt Rukmini Vijaykumar, Anjana instills a deep respect for tradition and artistic integrity in her students.
