NP Taekwon-Do Academy

NP Taekwon-Do Academy, located in Dunfermline, Fife, is a martial arts school and self-defence training facility run by Mr. Nik Purves, a highly experienced and qualified 6th Degree Black Belt with over 30 years of experience in Taekwon-do. Mr. Purves is not only an examiner but also a qualified international instructor, as well as a former member of the Scottish National Team.

The academy is situated at the state-of-the-art Elite Martial Arts Centre right in the heart of Dunfermline town centre. All classes are conducted by qualified Black Belt instructors, who possess full Indemnity Insurance, First Aid certificates, and Disclosure Certificates. The team of instructors consists of highly skilled individuals with extensive experience, including several who have competed at European and World levels.

The academy offers a wide range of classes to cater to individuals of all ages and levels of experience. The Little Teks class (4–7 years) is specifically designed to provide a safe martial arts workout for young children. The Junior Teks programme (8-11 years) continues to build on foundational skills, leading students on their journey to Black Belt. The Junior Taekwon-Do class (12–16 years) focuses on the full ITF style Taekwon-Do for high school-age students.

The Senior Taekwon-Do classes (16 years and above) are dedicated to adult members and cover all aspects of Taekwon-Do, with a strong emphasis on fitness. Additionally, there is a specialised Black Belt Training class (15 years and above) that provides an opportunity for advanced training and knowledge development. For those interested in kickboxing, the academy offers Korean Kickboxing classes (7 years and above) which are popular for improving fitness, coordination, and flexibility.

In order to provide additional support and resources, NP Taekwon-Do Academy offers various online resources. The online training hub contains pre-recorded classes for all levels, allowing members to engage in additional training from the comfort of their own homes. Little Taeks students can access the full syllabus online, enabling them to practise from home, while juniors and seniors can access patterns, kicking drills, one-step drills, and Korean terminology to further enhance their learning outside of class.

The academy also keeps members updated with the latest news and events through their club news section. This includes highlights from recent competitions and tournaments where students have excelled, such as the ITF Scottish Championships, European Taekwon-Do Championships, and selections for the ITF World Championships. The academy also organises and promotes events, such as the JNR Scottish Cup and sparring seminars with renowned masters.
