Nowra Walkie Talkies is a highly active sports club located in Nowra – Bomaderry, Australia. With a current membership of 19 individuals, this club organises weekly walks that take place on Thursdays at 8:00 am. The walks are of medium pace and typically last between 45–60 minutes.
Unfortunately, the club does not allow dogs or accommodate prams or wheelchairs during the walks. The meeting point for the walks is Harry Sawkins Park, directly opposite Peckish on the Park at 57 Graham St, Nowra.
Nowra Walkie Talkies is a member of the larger walking community in the area. Some nearby walking groups include the Basin Bay Strollers Walking Group in Sanctuary Point, the Greenwell Point Walkers Walking Group in Greenwell Point, and the Heads Walkers Walking Group in Shoalhaven Heads.
This sports club strongly promotes the many health benefits associated with regular walking. Maria, a member of Nowra Walkie Talkies, shares her success story of losing weight and improving her overall health through walking. She started by setting an initial goal of 5,000 steps per day and gradually increased it to 15,000 steps. This led to her no longer being diabetic and experiencing normalised blood pressure.
