Welcome to NOVUS Badminton Club, the longest-established competitive badminton club in Wolverhampton. Celebrating our 75th anniversary this year, our club offers a broad membership base, spanning various age groups. At NOVUS, we aim to provide challenging games in a friendly and sociable atmosphere. After working up a sweat on the court, players are invited to join us for a refreshing drink at the pub.
Conveniently located at Wolverhampton Grammar School, just a mile from the ring road, our club nights take place on Mondays and Fridays from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. We play all year round, except Bank Holidays and a short break at Christmas. NOVUS Badminton Club actively participates in the local South Staffs Badminton League. The league season runs from September to May, and we are proud to have several teams competing.
Please note that our membership is currently nearly full, and we can only consider accepting players who already possess team-standard skills. Let us know if you have played in a league, at school, or at university, and the timeline of your most recent involvement. We will then assess your suitability and arrange for you to try out our club.
In the event that we are unable to offer you a place, we will gladly assist in connecting you with other local clubs that may have openings. Our priority is to encourage and support newcomers to the sport, as well as junior players looking to improve their skills. However, as a competitive club, we must maintain a certain standard to support our teams. Therefore, we regret that we cannot accept new or inexperienced players.
For beginners and junior players, we recommend contacting your local leisure centre. They often provide introductory courses and social player clubs with a more suitable learning environment that can help you develop your game.
