Nova Knights Hockey is a community-based ice hockey club located in Windsor, Nova Scotia. Established in 2023 by volunteer Certified Hockey Canada Coaches from Hants County, Nova Knights Hockey was created to provide a low-cost, zero-profit hockey program for youth in the community. The goal of the program is to extend the regular hockey season and enrich the lives of young players through their love of the sport.
The program aims to make hockey more accessible to all youth, regardless of their financial situation. Nova Knights Hockey strives to remove barriers such as high costs, and inequalities based on ethnicity, race, or gender, so that all children have the opportunity to play and enjoy the sport in a safe and exciting environment.
Nova Knights Hockey offers a hockey skill and skating development program focused on full-ice game-play, positioning, face-offs, and competitive game-play. The winter program typically runs from mid-October to mid-March, and weekly practices are scheduled based on the local minor hockey association season schedule. The program fee ranges from $350-500 per player, with options for lump sum or installment payments.
The club accepts a maximum of 20 players and 2 goalies into the winter program, and games are typically held at various locations depending on the local minor hockey association season schedule and opponent availability. While participation in the winter program is recommended for those interested in the spring season, it is not a requirement.
Nova Knights Hockey may participate in tournaments during the winter season, depending on player and family interest as well as the local minor hockey association schedule. The club operates as a non-profit association and aims to keep registration costs low through sponsorships and fundraising efforts.
