North York Hearts Soccer Club

North York Hearts Soccer Club is an elite, non-profit soccer club located in North York, Ontario. Established in January 1990 through the amalgamation of Armourdale and Willowdale Blues Soccer Clubs, the club has a rich history of providing top-notch leagues, programs, and clinics for players of all ages and abilities.

The club's origin can be traced back to the founding of Fisherville, Lansing Lancers, and Northmount Monarchs Soccer Clubs in the winter of 1962/63. Over the years, these clubs evolved into Armourdale and Willowdale Blues, creating a strong soccer tradition in the central North York community. However, by the 1980s, both clubs faced challenges, including mismanagement, a shift in population, and changes in the political environment.

In response to these challenges, discussions about merging the two clubs began in 1987. Formal meetings led to the formation of North York Hearts Soccer Club in 1990, ensuring the continuation of a 28-year tradition of excellence in soccer. The club is the only North York-based soccer club with a central playing facility for all teams, offering competitive School of Excellence and House League programs.

North York Hearts Soccer Club plays its home games at the Esther Shiner Stadium and the North York Civic Soccer Fields, located at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Finch Avenue West. These fields were originally developed by the Armourdale Soccer Club in collaboration with the City of North York and Ontario Hydro in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
