No matter what your dance preferences or goals may be, North Shore Dance Centre has a class that suits you.
One of the highlights of North Shore Dance Centre is its AJDA Jazz programme. The school follows the AJDA syllabus, which offers a progressive curriculum that starts at the age of five and progresses through 14 levels to Advanced and Solo Seal. This programme fully trains students in all aspects of basic ballet techniques and focuses on developing performance skills, style, and the sheer enjoyment of dance. With new release music used in class, students are able to connect with the music and fully immerse themselves in their dance experience.
Another popular class at North Shore Dance Centre is Lyrical – Jazz Ballet, which combines elements of jazz and ballet to create a graceful and contemporary dance style. In this class, students dance in flowing circular skirts and either bare feet or half shoes. Lyrical classes are designed to improve deportment, posture, technique, and expression in jazz dancers, and are also open to students who are solely interested in lyrical dance. Exams in both AJDA Jazz and Lyrical are optional.
For younger aspiring dancers, North Shore Dance Centre offers a Preschool class called “Twinkle Toes. ” This class is held on Saturday mornings and focuses on developing basic dance technique in a fun and engaging way. Students are encouraged to shake, wiggle, clap, and perform to a variety of music. New students are welcome to join throughout the year, and no specific uniform is required.
Once children turn 5, they may transition to an after-school class.
In addition to regular classes, North Shore Dance Centre also offers examination syllabus and medal test exams in jazz, lyrical, and dancesport. While these exams are encouraged, they are not mandatory, allowing students to choose their own path in dance education.
