The Northland Golf Club, located in Ngararatunua, is a scenic and challenging par 71, 18-hole course set in a peaceful rural valley. Surrounded by native trees and birdlife, the club offers a beautiful and peaceful environment for golfers of all levels. Just 3kms past the Kamo lights, the club is conveniently located only 10 minutes north of central Whangarei.
The Northland Golf Club is known for its classic inland course, featuring tree-lined fairways and stunning views of the historic Mt Parakiore and Mt Hurupaki. The well-groomed native trees throughout the course not only provide scenic beauty but also serve as a sanctuary for various species of native birdlife.
The club has a rich history, starting out in 1932 as the Raumanga Golf Club before becoming the Whau Valley Golf Club in April 1933. In 1963, the club relocated to its current site and built the present clubhouse in 1964. The Northland Golf Club (Inc. ) officially opened at its present location on November 27, 1965.
Over the years, the course has undergone several changes and improvements, including the addition of new holes, enhancements to the course layout, and clubhouse remodelling.
On-site facilities at the Northland Golf Club include a comfortable lounge and bar with a panoramic view of six fairways and the 7th & 18th greens. The lounge and bar can accommodate up to 175 people and is open on club and event days. The club also features the Hole in One Caf, where visitors can enjoy a range of delicious home-cooked food, including pre-golf breakfasts. The practise areas at the club include a dedicated practise green in front of the clubhouse, a chipping area, and a practise green further out between the 18th green and 17th fairway.
Additionally, the club boasts a covered six-bay driving range that can be used in most weather conditions. Range balls and clubs are available for use on the range. The Golf Shop is the first stop for golfers upon arrival at the Northland Golf Club, offering a wide range of equipment and merchandise.
