The North Harbour Softball Assn Inc, commonly known as NHSA, is a vibrant and active softball club located in Auckland, New Zealand. With a proud history spanning 50 years, NHSA is committed to promoting and developing the sport of softball in the North Harbour region.
NHSA is home to 9 clubs, boasting a membership of 1,324 players. From beginners to seasoned athletes, the club caters to players of all ages and skill levels. With a strong emphasis on inclusivity and community, NHSA strives to create a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone involved.
The club works closely with 20 schools in the area, offering comprehensive school programmes and competitions to more than 3,600 students. Through these initiatives, NHSA aims to introduce young individuals to the joys of softball and foster a lifelong love for the sport.
In addition to its focus on grassroots development, NHSA also offers competitive opportunities for advanced players. The association organises competitions, representative teams, and regional club tournaments, giving athletes the chance to showcase their skills and compete against other talented individuals in the region.
NHSA recognises the importance of quality coaching and places a strong emphasis on ensuring the development of its coaches. The club actively supports coaches in understanding and implementing the Self-Determination Theory, a framework that helps athletes form intrinsic motivation. By empowering coaches with this knowledge, NHSA ensures that athletes receive the best possible guidance and support.
2023 marked a significant milestone for NHSA with the celebration of its 50th Jubilee. The event was a resounding success, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Jubilee Committee. The club extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in making the Jubilee a memorable occasion.
