“North Essex County Bowls Federation is a prominent and well-respected bowling club located in Sudbury, New Zealand. Comprising 11 bowls clubs, our federation covers an extensive area including North-West Essex, South-West Suffolk, and South-East Cambridgeshire. As an esteemed member of the English Bowling Federation and the English Women's Bowling Federation, we uphold the highest standards of the sport.
Federation bowls, a variant of the traditional bowls game, is a significant part of our club. With unique rules that make the game faster and shorter, federation bowls is gaining popularity across 13 counties, particularly in the eastern side of England. We offer a refreshing and exciting twist on the classic game, attracting players from all skill levels and backgrounds.
Our club thrives during the outdoor season, which spans from April to September. During this time, we organise various competitions and events for our members. We proudly run two county teams, one for men and one for ladies, who participate in the National inter-county competitions. Additionally, we host an engaging interclub league, a Club Championship knock-out competition, and a wide range of individual competitions.
With such a diverse array of activities, there is never a dull moment at North Essex County Bowls Federation.
For those who prefer indoor bowls, we have three indoor clubs in our area: Haverhill, Sudbury, and Turpin's (Saffron Walden). We understand the importance of keeping our members engaged and active throughout the year, even during winter. That's why we organise a series of individual county competitions specifically for those who enjoy playing indoors. This ensures that our members can continue to enjoy the sport they love regardless of the weather conditions.
