The Northbay Metis Council is dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of Mtis families in the North Bay area. Through a variety of family-specific programs and services, the council aims to address the unique needs of Mtis families and support them in maintaining healthy and happy relationships.
In addition to family wellbeing programs, the Northbay Metis Council also offers problem gambling prevention services. The Gaming & Gambling Awareness Program provides education and support for individuals and families who may be affected by gambling addiction, helping to promote positive change and balance in the community.
Community support services are another focus of the Northbay Metis Council, providing assistance to elderly and chronically ill individuals who may be experiencing isolation or difficulty managing their health. Through these programs, the council aims to support those in need and improve their quality of life.
The council also manages the Mtis Registry & Citizenship, maintaining the only recognized provincial registry for Mtis people who are eligible rights holders in Ontario. This program ensures that Mtis individuals have access to their rights and benefits as recognized by the Mtis Nation of Ontario.
For families with young children, the Healthy Babies/Children program provides support and resources from prenatal care to six years of age. Led by Coordinator Helen Tracey, this program aims to ensure the health and wellbeing of young Mtis children and their families.
