Northampton Ki Aikido Club, located in Northampton, offers martial arts training and self-defence classes for people of all ages and abilities. The club is a part of the Ki Federation of Great Britain and focuses on promoting relaxation, calmness, confidence, and mindfulness through the practise of Aikido.
The club is led by Sensei Ian Walters, who has been studying Ki Aikido since 1981. He is an 8th Dan and a member of the Executive Committee of the Ki Federation. Sensei Walters has extensive teaching experience and has conducted courses not only in the UK but also internationally in countries such as Australia, Canada, Russia, France, Holland, and Romania.
The club offers classes for both juniors (ages 5 to 13) and adults. Junior classes are held on Thursdays from 6:30pm to 7:15pm, while adult classes take place on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. The class timings for adults have recently changed and now begin at 7:30pm instead of 8pm.
The training takes place at The Church Rooms, which is located in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Church Lane. There is free parking available on Church Lane after 7pm, and students can also utilise the church car park. The club has recently moved to a new hall within the Church Rooms building, and the entrance to the hall can be found through the gates of the car park. The black door at the very rear of the building leads to the new training space.
If you're curious about Ki Aikido or the club itself, you're welcome to come and watch a class to see firsthand what it's like and how it is taught. During the short break in the middle of the class, you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the training and the club in general. You can also reach out to Sensei Ian Walters by phone or email for more information.
