Night Owls, hosted by McLaren Vale Bowling Club, is an exciting and sociable competition that offers a wonderful opportunity for both seasoned players and newcomers to experience the joy of lawn bowls. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a complete beginner, this event is open to all who are interested in giving bowls a go.
Starting at 6pm, registrations kick off the evening, followed by games commencing promptly at 7pm. You can expect the friendly competition to run until approximately 9pm, after which a delicious snack supper will be served. It's the perfect chance to unwind and mingle with fellow players, forging new friendships and sharing in the joy of the game.
In terms of team composition, each team will consist of four members, giving you ample opportunities to strategize and work together to secure victory. As an added bonus, you're also able to have one or two reserves on your team. However, it's important to note that a maximum of two pennant bowlers is allowed per team, and they must play either as a lead or second.
To ensure everyone's safety and maintain the integrity of the game, participants are required to wear flat-soled shoes or even go barefoot if they prefer. This not only adds to the relaxed and casual atmosphere but also helps in maintaining the pristine condition of the bowling greens.
Now, let's talk about fees. The entry fee per team, which comes into effect on a weekly basis, covers supper for all players and also includes a chance to win raffle prizes graciously provided by our sponsors. Worth mentioning is the additional one-time $20 social membership fee, which goes towards registering all players with Bowls SA. By becoming social members, participants not only gain eligibility to take part in the Friday Night Jackpot but also enjoy the opportunity to play social bowls at the Club.
However, if you're already a full member of the McLaren Vale Bowling Club or any other Bowling Club, you'll be exempt from paying the Social Membership Fee.
