Nicole Livingstone OAM

“Nicole Livingstone OAM is a highly accomplished and respected figure in the swimming and sports industry in Richmond, Australia. With a wealth of experience as an Olympic swimmer, AFL General Manager of Women's Football, host, commentator, MC, and guest speaker, Nicole has established herself as a prominent figure in the sports world.

Nicole's journey in swimming began as a childhood dream of becoming an Olympic swimmer. She went on to represent Australia at three Olympics, showcasing her incredible talent as a backstroker. As a member of the Australian swimming team for twelve consecutive years from 1985 to 1996, Nicole's dedication and skill earned her numerous accolades in the sport. She holds the record for the longest winning sequence of any Australian swimmer in history at the national titles, with ten consecutive 100m Backstroke titles between 1987 and 1996.

Additionally, Nicole achieved a silver medal and two bronze medals from her Olympic appearances, as well as multiple gold, silver, and bronze medals from Commonwealth Games and Pan Pacific Championships.

Following her retirement from competitive swimming in 1996, Nicole moved on to pursue a successful career in media. She joined the Nine Network, taking on various roles including hosting their flagship sports programmes Wide World of Sports and Sports Saturday. She also hosted the Commonwealth Games and served as an expert commentator and host for Nine's award-winning swimming and surf life-saving coverage. Throughout her media career, Nicole worked alongside renowned Australian TV personalities such as Max Walker, Eddie McGuire, Ken Sutcliffe, and Ray Warren, showcasing her versatility and professionalism.

She later joined Network Ten Sport as a host and commentator, further expanding her presence in the media industry.

Nicole's achievements extend beyond the world of swimming and media. Since 2017, she has held the prestigious position of AFL General Manager of Women's Football, overseeing the rapid growth of women's participation in the sport. Under her leadership, the AFLW, the elite competition for women's Australian rules football, has flourished, with all 18 AFL Clubs now participating and over 540 players involved. Nicole's expertise and passion for women's sports have been invaluable in breaking barriers and creating opportunities for women in football.

In addition to her sports career, Nicole has served on various boards, including Ovarian Cancer Australia, ASADA, the Victorian Institute of Sport, VicHealth, Sport Australia Hall of Fame, the Australian Olympic Committee, and Swimming Australia. Outside of her professional endeavours, Nicole is a proud mother of twins born in 2002 and another child born in 2007, managing the demands of family life alongside her successful career.
