Nicky Figgins Centre Stage Academy is a renowned dance school located in Blackpool, New Zealand. The school was founded by Nicky, who started dancing at a very young age and quickly discovered her passion and talent for it. By the age of 13, Nicky had already won the North West ballroom and Latin championships five times and had performed as a principal dancer in various pantomimes at the Grand Theatre Blackpool.
After completing school, Nicky was awarded a scholarship to attend the Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre, where she not only obtained her teaching diploma in ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing), but also became the head girl. With a career spanning over 24 years, Nicky has performed all over the world and has been fortunate enough to work with famous personalities such as Robert De Niro, Bradley Walsh, Joe Longthorne, and Will i am.
At the age of 30, Nicky decided to open her own dance school, Centre Stage Academy, in order to share her knowledge and passion with others. Over the past 11 years, Nicky has nurtured and guided her students to perform in numerous shows, including her own productions and professional pantomimes. The academy offers dance tuition in various styles including Tap, Ballet, Modern, Irish, Street, Tumbling, Contemporary, Ballroom, and Latin, as well as singing and drama. Students of all ages, from 3 years to adults, can expect to be taught at a high standard by experienced teachers in a supportive and happy environment.
One of the highlights for Centre Stage Academy students is the opportunity to perform in various theatres, including the prestigious Opera House in the Winter Gardens. Nicky's pupils have also had the chance to showcase their talent in the TV series “Hollyoaks” and in Nicky's own successful pantomime productions. The academy maintains a 100% pass rate in the ISTD exams for Tap, Ballet, and Modern, and students can also benefit from obtaining qualifications in their chosen dance styles.
