About
The Niagara Spears Football Club, based in St. Catharines, was established in 2004 as a non-profit organization with the aim of fielding a Junior Varsity (16 & under) team in the Ontario Varsity Football League. Over the years, the club has expanded to include a Varsity (19 & Under) Team in 2005 and a Bantam Team (14 & under) in 2007. The Niagara Spears is dedicated to providing an elite football program within the Niagara Region, helping players develop the skills necessary to continue their football careers at the next level.
With players representing over 25 high schools within the region, the Niagara Spears has made a significant impact within the football community, receiving praise from players, parents, and the community. Home games during the 2019 season are held at Kiwanis Field in St. Catharines, attracting fans with extensive media coverage. However, the club offers more than just football.
Emphasizing teamwork, accountability, and respect, the Spears program encourages a “team first, family” attitude, rewarding commitment and helping to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
The club's focus extends beyond the field, with a commitment to mental health awareness and support. Coaches and the executive team are always available to chat, and information on various mental health resources is shared with the community. The Niagara Spears Football Club also hosts events and fundraisers to support the local community and promote a sense of camaraderie among players, families, and fans.
