Welcome to the New Norfolk Swimming Pool, located on The Esplanade in New Norfolk, Tasmania. This picturesque swimming pool is ideally situated right next to the beautiful Derwent River, surrounded by the open space and tranquilly of the Esplanade parkland. The pool offers a shared walking and cycling track that leads to the award-winning Tynwald Park via the wetland, making it a perfect destination for all types of competition and other activities.
The New Norfolk Swimming Pool features a 55-yard (50. 3m) pool with six lanes, which was officially opened on 22 December 1963 by the legendary Dawn Fraser, who even swam a lap of honour. The pool maintains a constant temperature of 26c or above, providing a comfortable swimming experience for all visitors.
Facilities at the New Norfolk Swimming Pool include outdoor seating and a grassed area for relaxation, lap lanes for serious swimmers, a sunshade over the wading/toddler's pool for the little ones, and pool toys for added fun. The pool is also equipped with modern starting blocks and a time clock for accurate timing.
For convenience, the pool offers toilets and change rooms with hot showers, locker hire for secure storage of personal belongings, and off-street parking for easy access. Visitors can grab a snack or refreshment from the on-site kiosk or enjoy a meal at the free gas BBQ and picnic area. Additional electric BBQ picnic areas are located nearby, providing even more options for outdoor dining.
The New Norfolk Swimming Pool offers various admission fees, including $8. 00 for adults (16 years and over), $7. 00 for children (4–16 years), and free entry for children under 4 years accompanied by a full-paying adult. Students (16 years and over with ID) can also avail of a discounted rate of $7.
00, while families can enjoy entry for $21. 00.
