At Newick Badminton Club in Lewes, organiser John is dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive spot for badminton players of all levels. The club gathers every Tuesday evening from 7:45pm to 10:15pm at Newick Village Hall. The main season runs from September to early May, with an extra six-week summer session.
Using feather shuttles and associated with Badminton England, the club is also part of the East Grinstead Friendly League. Members can join in league games, but there’s no pressure to play competitively – it’s up to each individual.
Newick Badminton Club is open to everyone, from league players to beginners. New members get their first evening free. Besides badminton, John ensures there are plenty of social events like BBQs, Christmas meals, curry nights, and more to build camaraderie.
The club welcomes visitors for up to three sessions before making membership decisions, considering limited facilities. The minimum age to join is 16. While there isn’t a junior club yet, John is always exploring growth opportunities.
