

Newent Judo Club, located in Newent, Gloucestershire, is a registered club with the British Judo Association (BJA), and all members are required to join the BJA. The club offers sessions that are open to everyone and currently has five qualified club coaches: Bryan Butler, Chris Giglio, Izzy Butler, and Mike Woodham. Elaine O'Connell Francischetto is also a coach but is currently taking a coaching break. The club also has two Welfare Officers, Maria Ritchie and Izzy Butler, who look after the interests of the junior members.
All coaches and club officials have undergone CRB checks through the BJA.
The club meets every Friday at the Newent Leisure Centre. There are two sessions available – one for children under 10 years of age from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, and another for everyone else from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. It is recommended for participants to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the class for registration. The club practises in the small gym at the leisure centre.
For those new to Judo, the club provides loan gi (Judo suit) for practise. If the club doesn't have the participant's size, loose trousers or leggings without any metal and a t-shirt are appropriate. It is also requested that participants with long hair tie it back and refrain from wearing jewellery during the session.
Newent Judo Club offers the first two sessions for free as an opportunity to try out Judo. To find the club, participants can go to Forest Leisure Newent within the Newent Community school complex. Upon arriving at the school, they can park in the carpark and walk up between the buildings under the building bridge. At the top of the slope, they should turn left and enter the Leisure Centre. The small gym is located past the reception, where they can turn left and then left again.
For those coming from Gloucester, they can take the A40 towards Ross and then the B4215 towards Newent at Highnam. At the traffic light junction with B4221, they should turn left onto High Street and then right into Watery Lane. From Monmouth, individuals can take the A40 to Ross on Wye and then either the B4221 at the start of the M50 or the M50 to junction 3, exiting onto B4221 towards Newent. At the traffic light junction with B4215, they should turn right onto High Street and then right into Watery Lane.
