Welcome to the Newcastle Baseball Association, located in Rathmines. Established in 1932, the association is responsible for organising and conducting both Junior and Senior Baseball competitions within the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, and Port Stephens local government areas. With nearly 80 mixed teams, ranging from Juniors to Seniors, the Newcastle Baseball Association is a vibrant community within the Australian baseball landscape.
The Junior Baseball competition, which runs from early April to September, is a cornerstone of the association's commitment to fostering a love for the sport amongst young athletes. With a focus on family and community values, the association creates a positive and constructive environment for players to develop their baseball skills. From T-Ball to Senior League, the Newcastle Baseball Association provides opportunities for children aged 4 to 17 to participate in a sport that encourages inclusiveness, teamwork, perseverance, and good sportsmanship.
To support the development of young athletes, the association offers a T-Ball and Zooka programme, which is considered the best junior entry sporting programme in Newcastle. This programme allows young athletes to learn and explore the basics of baseball in a non-competitive atmosphere, laying the foundation for their future involvement in the sport.
The Junior Baseball competition consists of various age divisions, including T-Ball (Under 8), Zooka (Under 10), Little League (Under 13), Junior League (Under 15), and Senior League (Under 17). Game times vary depending on age division, with matches typically held on Sundays for T-Ball, Zooka, and Little League, and Saturdays for Junior League and Senior League.
The Newcastle Baseball Association is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all players and families involved. Parent participation is encouraged, and the association offers support to ensure a positive experience for the entire family. With a focus on fun, sportsmanship, and inclusiveness, the association provides a quality and cost-effective alternative to other Winter sports in the area.
The Junior Clubs affiliated with the Newcastle Baseball Association include Belmont Seagulls in Belmont, Boomerangs based in Mayfield, Maitland Mavericks in Maitland, Phoenix Charlestown located in Gateshead, Seaham Storm in Seaham, Toronto Tigers in Toronto, Lake Camels in Bolton Point, and White Sox situated in Wallsend.
