Open! Joining Narrabeen Amateur Swimming Club is a fantastic way to get involved in swimming and enjoy a fun, social atmosphere. The club, founded in 1961, is located in the scenic tidal rock pool at North Narrabeen Beach and welcomes swimmers of all levels and ages.
Narrabeen Amateur Swimming Club is a family-friendly club that prides itself on creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all members. Whether you're just starting out in swimming or have years of experience, you'll find a place in our club. We have a strong focus on fun and participation, rather than competitiveness.
Swimming with us is a perfect way to continue your Saturday morning sport after your winter season finishes. We swim every Saturday morning from October to the weekend before Easter, with races commencing at 9:30am. Our clubhouse at North Narrabeen Rockpool is the meeting place for all swimmers.
Our races use a handicapped start system, where the slowest swimmer starts first. This ensures that all swimmers finish each race at around the same time, regardless of their ability. It creates fair competition and allows everyone to have a chance at winning a race. Each swimmer earns one point per race towards the season point score, with additional points awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers.
At the end of the season, Junior and Senior Club Champions are awarded based on their overall point score.
We offer a variety of race lengths, ranging from 15m to 200m, as well as different stroke events including freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and medley. Swimmers can choose to participate in as many events as they like, with no caps on the number of events per swimmer. The club encourages swimmers to improve their individual times throughout the season.
In addition to our regular Saturday morning races, we also hold a 400m nominated time event on Thursday nights in January and February. This provides an opportunity for swimmers to challenge themselves in a longer distance race.
When you join Narrabeen Amateur Swimming Club, not only do you gain access to our races and events, but you also become part of a supportive community. After each Saturday swimming session, we gather for a social fundraising BBQ in our clubhouse. It's a great way to catch up with fellow swimmers, enjoy some delicious food, and relax after a morning in the water.
If you're interested in joining Narrabeen Amateur Swimming Club, we offer two free swims before you need to officially sign up as a member. It's the perfect chance to come and experience the friendly, laid-back atmosphere of our club. Registrations for the 2023-24 season are now open, so don't miss out on the opportunity to be a part of our swimming family.
