Nam Yang Brighton Community Association is a martial arts club and combat sport centre located in Brighton, offering a wide range of classes and programmes for people of all ages and backgrounds. Founded in 1999, Nam Yang has been making a positive impact within the local community for over 20 years. As a community-led, not-for-profit association, they are proud of their diversity and strive to serve the needs of everyone in the community, including people with disabilities, refugees, and local community groups. Many of their students and families come from lower-income backgrounds, and Nam Yang specifically provides for their needs.
Nam Yang Brighton is the first Martial Arts Club of Sanctuary in the UK, recognised for their outstanding work with refugees and asylum seekers. In addition to traditional martial arts training, they also incorporate mindfulness and meditation techniques to promote holistic well-being. Whether you are interested in Kung Fu, kickboxing, Savate (a speciality of theirs), or Chi Gong, Nam Yang offers classes suitable for all skill levels.
Their classes are taught in a relaxed, safe, and friendly environment from their full-time combat sport and martial arts centre. They have multiple venues across Brighton and Hove, allowing for easy accessibility to their programmes. Nam Yang also extends its services beyond classes, providing outreach work and community engagement initiatives.
