Mustangs Field

Mustangs Field, located in London, is an athletic facility offering top-notch amenities for athletes and sports enthusiasts. This state-of-the-art gym is home to various sports such as rugby, soccer, and field lacrosse, providing a space for both competitive and recreational activities.

Opened in 2013 as part of the Mustangs 100th Anniversary celebrations, Mustangs Field and Alumni Field showcase high-quality turf surfaces designed to enhance the gameplay experience for student athletes and the wider Western student community. Situated behind TD Stadium at the south end of campus, these fields cater to the growing demand for athletic space for OUA competitions, intramural leagues, and casual pick-up games.

Alumni Field, one of the few International Rugby Board certified fields in Canada, serves as the home venue for the Mustangs men's and women's rugby teams. With features like floodlights, an electronic scoreboard, and bleacher seating for up to 600 spectators, this field is equipped to host not only rugby matches but also a variety of other sports events.

On the other hand, Mustangs Field caters to the varsity men's and women's soccer teams, hosting major events like the OUA Women's Soccer Final Four. In addition to full-field soccer and lacrosse games, this field offers mini field pitches for 7-on-7 soccer matches. Like Alumni Field, Mustangs Field boasts amenities such as full lighting, an electronic scoreboard, and bleacher seating for up to 600 fans.

Both fields feature Edel Grass, making them the first in North America to provide an optimal playing surface for athletes. The construction of these top-tier facilities was made possible through significant contributions from Western's students, Foundation Western, and Alumni Western, showcasing a strong commitment to enhancing the athletic experience at the university.
