Jujutsu focuses on using leverage, joint locks, and throws to overcome an opponent, making it suitable for people of all ages, strengths, and fitness levels. It is a practical and efficient martial art that has been developed over centuries in feudal Japan.
Mushinzui Dojo Jujutsu is the foundation of the training and practise at the Bujinkan Saffron Walden Mushinzui Dojo. Located in the market town of Saffron Walden in Essex, the dojo offers a warm and friendly atmosphere for learning authentic Japanese Jujutsu. The dojo follows the teachings of the Bujinkan organisation and offers a martial art and self-defence system derived from nine traditional Japanese martial art lineages.
The training takes place at the Saffron Walden Scout Hall on Tuesdays from 20:00 to 22:00. The cost for a 2-hour lesson is 8. 00, and interested individuals can email the dojo to reserve their place. Beginners are welcomed with a trial membership that allows them to try up to four lessons for just 40.
This temporary membership offers a chance to experience the adult class and make an informed decision before committing to joining the dojo.
In addition to Jujutsu, the dojo also offers advanced training in Taijutsu. Advanced students have the opportunity to perfect traditional Japanese kory lineage techniques such as Koshijutsu, Koppojutsu, Jutaijutsu, Dekentaijutsu, and Happo Bikenjutsu.
A unique aspect of training at the Bujinkan Saffron Walden Mushinzui Dojo is the integration of the 'Body-Flex' system. This combat fitness programme combines yoga-like body conditioning with traditional self-defence techniques, allowing students to become combat fit without the need for a gym.
The dojo follows a ten-stage Jujutsu programme that caters to individuals of all capabilities. Whether one is young or old, strong or weak, fit or not, the programme is designed to work for everyone aged 16 and above. Students progress and develop at their own pace in a friendly and informal environment, receiving support from senior club members and teachers.
For those hesitant about financial commitments, the dojo offers a temporary membership deal. For just 40, individuals can try up to four classes without additional financial outlay. Prospective students can also choose to attend a Tuesday evening class as an observer before deciding to join.
Jujutsu, which originated over 800 years ago, is a traditional martial art that emphasises self-defence without the use of force. Mushinzui Dojo Jujutsu is a self-defence system that does not require individuals to be big, strong, or fit. It focuses on techniques that utilise leverage, joint locks, and throws to overcome opponents. Through Mushinzui Dojo, students can learn practical self-defence techniques and develop a solid foundation for progressing to the full array of Budo Taijutsu techniques taught in the Bujinkan lineage schools.
