The Mount Xavier Golf Club offers a picturesque 18-hole course that caters to both beginners and experienced players. The course boasts a variety of holes, with some winding through thick pine trees and others set in open undulating land. Standout holes include the challenging 233m 1st hole, the downhill par 3 14th, and the tough 17th hole, a 360m par 4 that requires strategic shots to a small green. The greens are always well-maintained and offer some challenging slopes, particularly on the 4th, 5th, and 16th holes.
While the fairways may dry out in summer, the addition of a bore and new couch grass tees allow for enjoyable play all year round.
The club welcomes both members and visitors, with the golf course open to the public on Saturdays from 2:30 pm. Green fees are $25. 00 for 9 or 18 holes before 4 pm, and $15. 00 for 9 or 18 holes after 4 pm.
The club also offers cart hire for $25. 00 (9 holes) or $40. 00 (18 holes). A special deal is available for $80.
00, which includes 2 green fees and shared cart hire. It's important to note that the special deal is not valid during club competition days.
Membership options are available for those who wish to become regulars at the Mount Xavier Golf Club. The 2019 membership fees range from $800. 00 for full men's/ladies membership to $75. 00 for junior membership (under 18).
There are also special rates for seniors (65+), students (18-25), and those who only wish to play on non-Saturday days. The club also offers a second club membership option for those who are already members of another club, with varying fees depending on the home club's fees. Country membership is available for those who live over 32 kilometres away.
In addition to golf, the club boasts an 8-rink bowling green for those who enjoy lawn bowls. Competitions and events are regularly held for both men and women, with ladies' competitions on Tuesdays and Saturdays, men's competitions on Saturdays and Tuesdays, and a 9-hole competition on Mondays.
Currently, the club is facing a relocation challenge as a portion of the land it resides on will not be extended beyond May 2024. However, this obstacle has presented an opportunity for the club to seek donations and fundraise for a redevelopment project that involves relocating the clubhouse, bowling green, and some golf holes to adjacent crown land. This project has been registered with the Australian Sports Foundation, and the club welcomes any donations or tax-deductible contributions.
