Throughout its history, the Mt Barker Football Club has enjoyed numerous successes. In the early 1900s, the club competed against teams from the Hills region and even teams from Adelaide. During this time, the club won seven topships and became a prominent force in the local football scene. In the following decades, the club transitioned between different associations and leagues, experiencing varying degrees of success.
Notably, during the Hills Central Association era from 1954 to 1966, the club won five leadingships, solidifying its reputation as a formidable team.
Since the formation of the Hills Football League in 1967, the Mt Barker Football Club has enjoyed continued success. The A Grade Men's side has won eight topships and been runners-up nine times, firmly establishing the club as a force to be reckoned with in the league. In recent years, the club has expanded its offerings, introducing more junior teams and launching a women's football programme in 2016. The senior women's team achieved immediate success, winning a leadingship in their inaugural year in Division 2 of the South Australian Women's Football League.
As a proudly community-focused club, the Mt Barker Football Club also recognises and pays respect to the Peramangk People, the traditional owners of the land upon which it trains and plays. The club acknowledges and respects the Elders, past, present, and emerging, and extends this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
