In addition to regular paid classes, Movema also offers free classes in both Bristol and Liverpool, ensuring that access to high-quality dance education is available to all.

Through their Cultural Communities programme, Movema brings people together, breaking down barriers and fostering appreciation for different cultures. As one project participant explained, “Seeing the whole world as a big family without barriers allows everyone to appreciate each other's culture.
The organisation's commitment to children and young people is exemplified through programmes like the Unlock the Box Youth project, which helps develop positive mindsets and performance skills. Movema also produces creative productions that celebrate diversity and showcase the talent of their community. Their work has been praised by Angus MacKechnie, Director of Outdoor Arts UK, for the way diversity is embedded in their performances.
Movema's recent highlights include hosting the Celebrate With Me programme at the Bristol Refugee Festival, featuring dance and music from around the world, and performing their Global Folk choreography at the Eurovision Blue and Yellow Submarine Parade in Liverpool. They also took part in the Happy Diwali event in Thornbury and ran the Oy Active Zone at the Africa Oy festival for the 14th consecutive year.
At Movema, diversity is not just a buzzword it is a guiding principle. Their aim is to create safe spaces where different communities can come together and learn from one another. By providing high-quality arts experiences, Movema fosters understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures.
Movema continues to grow and expand its offerings. They recently announced a new World Fusion class for adults and are excited to provide performance opportunities, including Lunar New Year celebrations. Additionally, they are celebrating the second year of their artist development programme, Wildfire Rising, which supports Global Majority dance artists by removing barriers of inequality. Movema is also partnering with the South Gloucestershire Race Equality Network to promote awareness of diverse cultures in the region.
