Mixed Bathing Pond

Welcome to the Mixed Bathing Pond, one of London's leading open-air swimming spots. Nestled in the heart of Hampstead Heath, this natural bathing pond offers a refreshing and invigorating swimming experience for all.

Facilities at the Mixed Bathing Pond include lifeguards on duty to ensure your safety, changing rooms for your convenience, and outdoor cold showers to rinse off after a swim. Please note that this pond is only suitable for strong swimmers, as the water can be deep and quite cold.

For the safety of all visitors, there are a few restrictions in place. Children aged 8-15 must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two children per adult. All children will be required to complete a swim test before entering the pond or swimming facility. Swimwear is mandatory, and only assistance dogs are allowed in the facilities.

If you are planning a visit, please be aware that there are no lockers available, and any valuables should be left at your own risk. Payments for day swimming can be made in cash or by contactless card, with rates starting at 4. 50 for adults and 2. 70 for concessions.

Season tickets are also available for those who wish to make regular visits to the Mixed Bathing Pond.

Opening hours for the Mixed Bathing Pond vary, and it is important to note that during the winter months, public swimming is not available. Instead, the pond is exclusively open to members of the Hampstead Heath Winter Swimming Club. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time, as improvement works are being carried out to enhance the safety and accessibility of the pond.
