Support and Advocacy for disordered eating is available to those living in the Auckland District Health Board region.
Mind & Body's Peer Support and Advocacy services provide a safe and confidential space for individuals to talk to someone who truly understands their struggles. With a focus on building mutual relationships based on trust and respect, the trained support workers, or 'peers', use their own experiences of mental distress and/or addiction and recovery to support others.
One-to-one meetings allow individuals to share their experiences, set wellbeing goals, and receive support in reaching them. Mind & Body's peers can also help individuals navigate and resolve issues within the wider mental health system, ensuring that their needs and desires are met.
For those in the Auckland District Health Board region, Peer Support and Advocacy is also available for individuals experiencing disordered eating. These individuals are paired with a peer who has personal experience with disordered eating and recovery, providing a unique level of understanding and support.
Through the Peer Support and Advocacy service, Mind & Body listens attentively, explores a person's hopes and dreams, explores available options, and assists in making informed choices to achieve their goals. The service is independent, free, and completely confidential.
To access Adult Peer Support and Advocacy, individuals must be between the ages of 18 and 65 and live in either Tmaki Makaurau/Auckland, Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington, or tautahi/Christchurch.
